Grok says… The New Course at Moray Golf Club (often called “Lossie New”) is the excellent second 18-hole links layout in Lossiemouth on the Moray Firth coast, providing a perfect complement to the historic Old Course. Originally starting as a 9-hole Ladies’ course in 1905, it was expanded and redesigned into a full 18-hole championship course by three-time Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton in 1979, incorporating the existing holes with his signature emphasis on precision and accuracy. This shorter but tighter gem features narrower fairways, smaller greens strategic bunkering, gorse, burns in play, and undulating links terrain that demands thoughtful shot-making over brute length—making it a stern yet rewarding test in the wind, with a more modern feel while retaining authentic Scottish links character. Nestled inside the perimeter of the Old Course, it shares the same stunning coastal setting, dramatic sea views toward the Covesea Lighthouse, and occasional RAF Lossiemouth jet flyovers for added excitement, all in the club’s famously mild, dry micro-climate ideal for year-round play.
